WRITING EFFECTIVE EMAILS

Remember that the subject lines are headlines. choose several words so that vthe recepient know that what is the purpose of email easily.

bad example:

Hi Sam,

Subject: i am sending this email to remind you about the party that we have organised for the next week. be there on time.

Good example:

Hi Sam,

Subject: This is to remind you about the party that we have organise dfor the next week on june 13 at 5 pm, at mountview hotel in toronto. try to be there on time.

from these example, one can easily get the purpose of the email and the scheduled time for it and the day as well.

make sure to provide the email phone number if you want any call to action, your contact information, name, address if you want in internal messages.

example:

hi ....,

subject: ............................

i am sending this email to you to tell you you that i am going to new york for  1 week from 11 august to 18 august. if you have any problem regarding your study or job, you can contact me on

6397609273
or
6389877687

this is my new york hotel number where i am going to stay.

thanks

  1. Definitely, the subject of the email is the most important element after the address of the recipient. The subject of the email would send a strong message to the recipient. Hence, if the subject line is vague for an important message, chances are that message would not be responded to with the urgency it deserves. Why? Because the recipient treats it as a normal mail and due to time constraints, prioritizing how we respond to emails is common today because of the numerous unwanted emails we receive in our inbox. Also, when writing an email, you want to get to the point as quickly as possible to prevent the reader from wasting valuable time. Did you ever send an email where the subject line didn’t summarise the message effectively and you didn’t receive a response, or received a response after several days?
